Actually, it is very easy to understand this phenomenon if you know the “secrets” of these two models.
The viewing distances
For outdoor fixed installation case, such as advertising project, traffic LED display, we can see that the viewing distance is more far than indoor requirements. Exactly, for P10 outdoor LED screen, the best viewing distance is 10-30m. And P16 model, the best viewing distance is 15-50m. For most of the outdoor fixed projects, this outdoor project viewing distance is close to the best viewing distance of P10 and P16 outdoor models. Also, these two models can display very perfect pictures in these viewing range.
The brightness
For outdoor LED display, generally, the pixel pitch lower than P10, the brightness is about 5,000-6,500CD/Sqm. While P10 and P16 DIP, the brightness can be around 7,000-10,000 CD/Sqm. P10 and P16 are using DIP LEDs, the LED chip size is larger than SMD LEDs. Thus, they will be higher brightness than SMD LED display. When two LED display with these different brightness ranges are placed in one place, viewers will be attracted easily by the brighter one. In this way, the contents showed in the brighter one will get more notice in outdoor application.
Durable
P10 and P16 DIP LED display have long life span than other outdoor SMD LED display. The LEDs used in P10 and P16 have longer legs and bigger size than other SMD LEDs. Also, their legs across the PCB, so after soldering with the silicon gluing, the LEDs can be firmly fixed on the PCB. As the DIP LEDs are packed in three independent packages and with big size chip, they can do better for the heat dissipation. While SMD LEDs are packed in one package, it is not so good for heat dissipation. Also, the SMD LEDs are just mounted on the surface of PCB. Sometimes will have the problem of skip soldering. The better heat dissipation for the outdoor LED screen, it will be more durable. Therefore, the P10 and P16 do better in heat radiation and have longer lifespan than other outdoor SMD models.
Save the budget
Buying a P10 and P16 LED screen is more cost effective. Compare with other SMD models, the same size, the P10 and P16 are more economic. The smaller pixel pitch of the LED screen, the cost will be more with the same size.
For outdoor fixed project, the screen size is normally not a small size. And they are placed far from viewers, and this viewing distance is enough for P10 and P16 to present the perfect picture. Also, the brightness of these two models are bright enough to show the content to attract viewers. What’s more, they have the longer lifespan and cost effective. It is no wonder they are the most popular choices for outdoor fixed cases.
